C.A.R.B. stands for Central Auto Racing Boosters. A racing orginization in the Kansas City area. C.A.R.B. supports racing at tracks across the greater Kansas City area. Tracks like Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg Missouri, Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City Kansas, I-35 Speedway in Winston, MO., I-70 Speedway in Odessa Missouri, Valley Speedway in Grain Valley Missouri, and Kansas Speedway also in Kansas City Kansas. Additionally, C.A.R.B. has started a Hall of Fame honoring past racers from the Kansas City area. C.A.R.B. is all about Racing Fans supporting Americas favorite sport of Auto Racing. C.A.R.B. Meeting

The November General Membership Meeting is one of the most important meetings for the Central Auto Racing Boosters. Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend – November 8, 2008 starting at 4:00 P.M. at Finnigan’s Hall. Why is this meeting so important you may ask?

At this meeting we will vote by secret ballot for the recipients of the Special Awards, which are given at the Banquet. We will also update everyone on the latest Banquet News, the Hall of Fame nominees for the class of 2009, other news, and we will nominate for the 2009 Offi-cers and Board of Directors to lead this club.
Please plan to attend and be a part of the decision making for this club.

Meeting

The meeting included: nominations for the Special Awards to be given at the banquet; Award nominations to be reopened prior to voting at the November meeting; and selection of the 2009 Nominating and Election Committee.

Banquet Update

One week left to buy your ticket for the 56th Annual Central Auto Racing Boosters Banquet. The banquet will be held on December 6, 2008 at the KCI Expo, located at 11730 North Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, Mo 64153. Tickets are $35 each and may be purchased by contacting the following ticket sellers:

Doors will open at 4:00 P.M., dinner will begin at 5:00 P.M., the Award Ceremonies will start at 6:00 P.M. and dancing and music is scheduled immediately after the completion of the awards. Ticket cut off is November 1 due to contractual obligations with the KCI Expo.
Central Missouri Speedway, Lakeside Speedway, Valley Speedway, I-35 Speedway, and I-70 Speedway dirt and asphalt have confirmed they will be presenting their awards at the Banquet. Questions have been asked about Brad McDonald and I-70 and he has confirmed to C.A.R.B. Vice President Rodney Hawkins he will have trophies and awards and will be in attendance.

C.A.R.B. honors the Champion Driver, Owner, and Mechanic from each track, in addition to Rookies of the Year and Most Improved Drivers. Additionally, C.A.R.B. has special awards which will be given. Listed below are the nominations received at the October meeting:

The dinner, provided by Heart of America Catering, will consist of a buffet of pasta salad, cole slaw, potato salad, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Pork Loin, Oven Roasted Baby Red Potatoes, Green Beans with Onions and Bacon, Apple Pie with Brandy sauce and Brownies with Chocolate sauce, Whipped topping with Red and Green Sprinkles.

The table configuration is round tables with ten people to a table. The KCI Expo will provide linen table cloths and napkins, china and silver service, and plastic cups for beverages. A cash bar will be available for those so desiring.

Directions to the KCI Expo Center are north on I-29 to 112th Street turn east and at North Ambassador Drive turn left the Expo Center will be on your left about ½ mile north of the intersection. If you are coming from the east proceed north on I-435 towards the airport (take the airport exit off I-435) and turn left on Ambassador Drive and the Expo Center will be on your right about one half mile from the traffic light. The KCI-Expo Center is a non smoking facility. Smoking is allowed outside the facility.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites- 11820 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City MO 64154 has made a block of rooms available. Rate is $69.00, King or Double Suite. Contact is Jeanie Schmidt, 816-464-2424. Complimentary shuttling to and from the KCI Expo Center is available or the hotel is close enough to walk.

C.A.R.B. will again have the Marines accepting Toys for Tots (bring a toy) and the American Cancer Society will be represented to accept the donations from the racing community that were collected this year. Additionally, a representative will be in attendance from the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

A silent auction of various prizes will also be conducted.
